A large equipment manufacturer of postal sorting machines wanted to improve upon the efficiency of reading bar codes and addresses on packages.
To design and manufacture a lens that maintains constant magnification over a 7” working distance, imaging relevant information while packages moved at 35 MPH and repeatable over a 50K cycle / 6-month period
|Design:||The final design of the lens had a very fast mechanical zoom capability, and also could be used in low-light conditions due to the fast (low) f-number.|
|Integration::||Integrated with a 28.7mm line scan camera provided by the customer.|
|Efficiency:||Met the customer’s requirement for improved efficiency; packages were sorted faster at a significantly reduced cost.|
